How Tankly calculates and updates prices
Last updated: 11/07/2026
This page explains transparently how tankly.fr obtains the prices shown, how often they are refreshed, how averages are calculated and what limits apply before comparing or citing this data.
1. Official data source
Prices and station information come from French public datasets published on data.gouv.fr and reported by gas stations and relevant operators.
Tankly does not set prices: the site structures and compares data that is already published nationally.
2. Collection and update frequency
Imports run automatically several times per day. Each import may contain new price readings for part of the station network.
- each reading is timestamped with its source update date;
- several readings may exist for the same station on the same day;
- Tankly keeps useful history to track price trends.
3. Price shown on a station page
On a station page, Tankly shows the latest known price for each tracked fuel, together with the associated reading date.
If several readings exist for the same fuel, only the most recent one is used for the main display and instant comparisons.
4. City, department and national averages
Trend charts and geographic comparisons do not use a raw average of every hourly import.
- for each station and each day, Tankly keeps the latest known price for that day;
- city / department / France averages are then calculated from those daily last-known prices;
- stations that are too old or inactive may be excluded from aggregates.
5. Freshness, indexing and SEO exclusion
A station whose prices have not been updated for several weeks may remain available, but be temporarily removed from SEO indexing.
This rule avoids promoting pages that are no longer reliable enough for useful comparison.
6. Shortages and availability
Displayed shortages depend on the signals returned by the sources used.
The absence of a reported shortage does not guarantee immediate on-site availability.
7. Limits before comparing
- a delay may exist between the source reading and the display on tankly.fr;
- the actual price on site may differ, especially depending on services or payment methods;
- some stations or fuels may be missing or incomplete;
- displayed prices are informational and do not constitute a commercial offer.
8. Citing Tankly correctly
If you reuse or cite Tankly figures, mention “tankly.fr” as the source and include the last update date visible on the page consulted.
